Communications Troubleshooting

Communications Troubleshooting

The Smart Biogas Unit requires two things to communicate properly

  • Sufficient battery level

  • Good network connectivity

The device uses a SIM card to connect to the local mobile network and send data to the Smart Biogas Dashboard.

Quick Troubleshooting

1. Check the Dashboard

First, open the Smart Biogas Dashboard and check:

  • Battery status

  • Signal strength

  • Last Seen time

The device normally sends data at regular intervals (typically every 1 or 4 hours). If the Last Seen time is much older than expected, communication may be interrupted.

2. Battery Issue

If the battery level is low:

  1. Check if there has been cloudy weather for several days.

  2. Make sure the solar panel/adapter is properly connected.

  3. Ensure the solar panel is receiving direct sunlight and is not shaded.

  4. Check the battery wiring and polarity.

  5. Check the battery for any visible damage.

If the issue continues, contact support@smartbiogas.io for assistance.

3. Network / Signal Issue

If the dashboard shows Marginal or No Signal:

  1. Check whether the local mobile network is available in the area.

  2. Check that the SIM card has an active data plan.

  3. Restart the Smart Biogas Unit by switching it OFF and ON.

  4. If using an Inclusive Energy SIM, contact our support team for assistance.

  5. If using your own SIM, confirm that the SIM is supported by the local network and has the required APN settings.

  6. Check that the SIM card is correctly inserted according to the Unified Smart Biogas Installation Manual.

Still Not Working?

If the above steps do not resolve the communication issue, please contact support@smartbiogas.io with the Device ID and a screenshot of the dashboard showing the battery, signal, and Last Seen status.

Our support team will help you troubleshoot the issue.
