What sensor types are available and what data do they give?
SB has two sensors onboard
The static pressure sensor is useful for understanding what is going on in the digester, it measures the pressure inside the digester. For example, we can tell if the gas store is full when cooking is happening and if the biogas plant is venting just to give a few examples. We use this data predominantly for fault analysis of biogas plants. The sensor can read the pressure value in the range of 0-10 kPa, 0-100 mBar, 0-1.45 PSI
The flow sensor measures the amount of gas flowing through the pipe and is useful for measuring the amount of gas used by the stove. This data we typically use for billing, calculating carbon credits, and fault analysis. It can measure the maximum flow rate: 0.64 liters per second, 38.4 liters per minute, 2.304m³ per hour.
Can I replace the sensor in case of malfunction?
Yes, sensors are connected to a header pin and can easily be removed. You can replace the sensors like for like, or get in touch with us to order spares.
What is the accuracy of sensors?
Smart Biogas has been tested by The University of Nottingham (UK) and internally by Inclusive Energy. The product is CE Certifed.
~330 lph which is the minimum flow rate required for cooking, the average accuracy is ±1.77%. This is highly accurate for gas flow meters. Where the flow rate drops below 330lph the inaccuracy increases but these flow rates would not be sufficient to sustain a flame, hence we have optimized accuracy for the range greater than 330lph.
